AMERICA…AMERICA!

Posted in Uncategorized on March 21, 2008 by sikiliza

The one thing that is really amazing about  Americans is how they make up their mind and stick to one thing so fast.Everybody is in a rush to join a certain group,it’s like rushing to catch a bus.The groups are made up of the Democrat’s,Republican’s,Liberals and the Conservatives who in my opinion are the hardest to deal with. The groups are further split leaving one wondering what the fuss is all about.

I truly believe that no normal human being can be one thing. Each and every individual has different ways in which he or she views certain aspects.I mean there are certain things that one can be liberal about and other issues where one can be conservative about. For example,if i was an American,i would be conservative with crime but liberal with issues like prostitution.

People should learn to keep their opinions to themselves and not going around telling others what to believe in.Everybody is so busy wanting to be something. There is no day since i came to America that i have not heard of people debating about how democratic or liberal they are.I guess its due to the elections that are ahead.I am not against people having their opinions but i am against individuals who are so obsessed with being one thing that they cant really be convinced otherwise even if they are wrong.

RAP MUSIC…….

Just like chris rock,i am also one individual who loves but tired of defending rap music.many people go like,”thats not art or music. Its trash”.In the old days it was easy to defend it when we had rappers like Tupac,Run DMC and the rest.We could defend it on an intellectual level because it was like poetry.

I love the new rappers but defending them is hard.I bet the hardest is Lil jons song and i will quote one line,”To the window,to the wall.Till the sweats drips from my b***s.”.What is so weird is that you can go to a club and you will find girls dancing to that kind of song.I am so sorry for the men who pick wife’s out of this bunch.

People also say that rap music is degrading women but the funniest thing is that women who listen and dance to it don’t care.If the beat is right she will dance the whole night, even if it so nasty.Try asking them about the lyrics and they all have one reply,”they ain’t talking about me”….huh!

The police in the USA also dont love the music, ask me why? They do not arrest anybody that kills rappers. They have no clues, suspects and reports.A good example is the late Tupac who was gunned down outside a Las Vegas street after a Mike Tyson’s fight.Tell me,how many witnesses do you need for that.Saddam Hussein can be found in a hole in Iraq but Tupac’s killers can’t be found…in US.

Finally, the good rappers are the one’s who are being killed.Notorious BIG,Tupac are all dead but Vanilla Ice is still alive. That is so unfair…………!

Thanks….

Since i came to the US i have only gone to a hotel once. This is because i had a very bad experience when i visited a hotel at JFK Airport in New York.i had just arrived from Africa and was waiting for my connection flight to Toledo.i decided to go and have tea since the weather was terrible.i arrived at a small cafe and waited for the waiter to come.Below is how the ordering started:

waiter:”what would you like to have?”

me:”tea please”.

waiter:cecylon,herbal,bush,ice or green tea?”

me:i wasnt quite sure but cecylon sounded nice so i ordered it.

waiter:how would you like it,black or white?

me:white

waiter:milk,whitener or condensed milk?

me:with milk

waiter:goat,camel or cow milk?

me:cow please.

waiter:milk from freeze land cow or afrikaner cow?

i was now bored and decided that i will now have black tea but he never stopped with the questions.

waiter:would you like it with sweetener, sugar or honey?

me:sugar

waiter:beet or cane sugar?

me:cane.

waiter:white,brown or yellow sugar?

me:forget everything and get me a glass of water, please!

waiter:mineral or still water

me:mineral

waiter:flavored or non-flavored

i left the cafe and decided to wait and eat in the plane…thats why i miss home!

INDESCENT PROPOSAL-Everyone has a price……….

Posted in Uncategorized on March 15, 2008 by sikiliza
The train was travelling along when a beautiful young woman entered the compartment which was deserted except for a businessman reading his paper.
The man peered over his paper and asked “Would you let me have sex with you for a dollar?”
“Certainly not!” exclaimed the young woman, and the businessman returned to his paper.
A short while later he looked across again and said “Would you let me have sex with you for a million dollars?”
After a brief pause, the woman replied “yes, I suppose I would.” Again the man returned to his newspaper.
A few minutes later the man asked “Would you let me have sex with you for five dollars?”
“Certainly not!” replied the young woman, getting angry now “What kind of girl do you take me for?”
“We’ve already established that” replied the man, “We’re just haggling over the price!”

This story happened in Nairobi,Kenya..!

A man was hitch hiking on a very dark night, in the middle of heavy downpour. The night was rolling by and there was hardly a car on the road. The rain was so strong that he could hardly see his feet in front of  him.
Suddenly a car came towards him and stopped.
Without thinking, he got in and closed the door, just to realize that there was nobody behind the steering wheel.
The car moved off slowly. He looked ahead and saw a curve in the road. Scared, he started praying, begging for his life. He was terrified.
Just before hitting the curve, a hand appeared through the window and turned the steering wheel. The man, now paralyzed with fear, watched how the hand kept appearing every time they got to a curve.
Gathering all his courage,  he jumped out and ran to the nearest lights he could see. Wet and in shock, he went into a bar and asked for a Pilsner(local beer).
After drinking it, he told everyone of the horrible experience he had just had. Everyone was silent when they realised he was crying.
About half an hour later, two men came into the bar and on seeing the terrified man, one of them said to the other,
“aaaaaah… that’s the idiot who got into the car when we were pushing”…
“And always remember….when life hands you lemons, ask for Tequila/sambuca and salt and call me over!”

on-campus employment

Posted in Uncategorized on March 15, 2008 by sikiliza

For the past two weeks i have been all around the campus looking for a job but to no avail. All the jobs posted on the boards at the student union hall are either taken or not just available.some of you maybe are like me and need that extra cash for two or three things. One of the things that moved me to write this note is that i run into so many international students who are stuck. They’re not doing badly. They are just stuck since the sponsors or the persons paying for their tuition do not give them enough pocket money to sustain their living. The universities should create more on campus jobs to enable students like me get an extra dollar to sustain us.Some of us need the money to pay for rent since the residence halls that the campus provide are way out of our budget.Sometimes it takes lecturers to notice that some students are not happy. This is not about living well as a student and being rich. You can have money and still be miserable. On campus jobs also give international students an insight to have more relations with other students. It also gives them a preview on how working in America really is.Thats my plea and i personally need a job…………
